Sport Review: Ice Skating

Have you ever tried ice skating?

Ice skating is the act of motion by wearing the ice skates and sliding across a sheet of ice. It can be separated into different types such as figure ice skating, pair ice skating, ice hockey and so on.

My favorite type of ice skating is figure ice skating. Figure ice skating is a special type of ice skating which individuals, pairs, or groups perform figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport included in the Olympics.

My favorite figure ice skater is Elena Lgorevna Radionova. She was born in Moscow, Russia. As being the only kid in her family, her parents let her work on her interests. Radionova's father introduced her to skating when she was just three years old. Something that surprised me was that the reason of Radionova learned how to skate is because of her feet problem. But after knowing that she loves figure ice skating so much, it became her favorite interest. From 3 years old to now, 19 years old, she made a big progress of winning 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. This progress also can make her have more and more opportunities to go on more competition or even Olympic.

My favorite competition was the time she got the championship.

It was the 2014 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. It was also called the "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", including men's single, women's single and teenager's figure skating. Since Elena practiced for a long time with hard work, she won the competition with the score:194.29. This amazing score made Elena become the first female figure iceskater to score above 190.
