My Idol: Cheng Xiao
Cheng Xiao is a 21 year old k-pop star.
Born on July 15th, 1998, Cheng Xiao is a popular 21-year-old singer from Shenzhen, China. She is well-known in many places in Asia such as China and Korea and is best characterized by her gorgeous outlook as well as her amazing singing and dancing abilities.
Since her childhood, Cheng Xiao had started to get in touch with national Chinese dance at a young age of 5 and had kept learning for 10 years till 15 years old. Later on, she turned toward learning pop music dancing as well as rhythmic gymnastics. With the gain of agile posture and good foundation from learning national Chinese dance, k-pop dancing and gymnastics became a piece of cake to Cheng Xiao. By learning various types of dancing, Cheng Xiao ended up with superb skills, which made her later been discovered by scouts at a dancing competition. After her secondary school life, she signed into the Yuehua Entertainment company as a dancer and went to South Korea to attend the Seoul High School of Performing Arts where many previous idols graduated from.
My idol, Cheng Xiao, was graduated from Seoul High School of Performing Arts in 2016.
As a Chinese k-pop singer based in both South Korea and China, Cheng Xiao became a member of a girl group called "Cosmic Girls" that came out in 2016 soon after she finished high school at 18 years old. This girl group has a total of 12 members coming from different countries, and within it, there are 2 other Chinese members, which are Meng Meiqi and Wu Xuan Yi. "Cosmic Girls" has gained high popularity throughout the whole world as soon as they debuted with their first album called: "WOULD YOU LIKE IT". When the album was released, it ranked first on the daytime chart of the statistics Hanteo platform for a few months and had spread to the community at a very fast speed. For the next few years, the group had some successful development in both China and South Korea as they produced more songs, participated in the production of variety shows, giving large-scale concerts, and also endorsing many market products and filming advertisements. "Cosmic Girls" had also won multiple awards and honors such as "The Most Potential Combination Award" "Best Newcomer Award" from M! Countdown in China, as well as "Rising Hot Star Award" from SORIBADA Music Awards Ceremony.
There are 12 members in the " Cosmic Girls" group, and 3 of them are from China. In the group, Cheng Xiao played an important role as a vocalist plus the lead dancer.
While performing with the group as a k pop idol, Cheng Xiao also engages in many other activities as personal development. After producing their second album called "THE SECRET", Cheng Xiao attended the Idol Star Athletics Championships and won the gold medal in artistic rhythmic gymnastics. Later on, she went back to China to be a participant or guest of different famous shows and cooperate with other stars. On January 9th, 2018, Cheng Xiao became the dance instructor of the Performance-type reality show where 100 male trainees from different multinational entertainment groups and talent agencies competed with each other until 9 people being selected by the popular vote were left to form a new idol boy group. As this show started to attract extensive attention, more people noticed Cheng Xiao and was inspired by her cute personality as well as her talent in dancing. This year, Cheng Xiao mainly focused on films and dramas. She had starred in 2 drama and was now filming her third one which will be a myth martial drama.
Cheng Xiao's new myth martial drama is still in the filming process and is predicted to be shown in 2020.
Although there are so many more idols out there, I'm attracted by Cheng Xiao the most for various reasons. To start with, Cheng Xiao has the charm of a temperamental woman and the young girl's feelings. In the song "CATCH ME", she showed her strength, domineering, liveliness, and cuteness. Her doll-like appearance also exudes her unique girl charm. Moreover, she can perfectly interpret difficult movements with her self-confidence, proficient and perfect control of dance skills on the stage. While in variety shows, with her excellent dancing skills and her positive image, she can easily win the audience's love. In addition, when she was the dance instructor of the performance-type reality show, her clam aura, and playful temperament made her not only a dance instructor with a professional domineering but also a lively and agile girl who was a friend of everyone.
